Turkish Room

The Turkish Room shows a development of Turkey through the development of traditional bas odasi architecture. Origins of what is described as a living area come from Uighur yurts, and the layout of the seating reflects this fact, with all seated people facing each other.

Decorative elements show the Ottoman period and the woodwork reflects the Ottoman expansion upon the ancient fitted wood scheme that characterized yurts. A third, modern period is shown with the reforms initiated by Ataturk, illustrated in the largest of the ceramic tile pictures.
