German Room

No tours of the Nationality and Heritage Rooms will be available on Sunday, March 31.  The rooms will be closed and unavailable to the public.

The German Room is one of the few Nationality Rooms inspired by educational architecture. Its German-born, Pittsburgh architect was influenced by Renaissance era German university classrooms.

Above the door are crests of two of the oldest German universities, city crests adorn the ends of ceiling beams and a variety of German speaking authors, artists, scientists and musicians' names are carved into the walnut woodwork. Connick stained glass windows showing ten Grimm's fairytales were installed in 1954.
