The primary mission of the Nationality Rooms Program is to attract and retain the participation of the region’s ethnic communities in preserving and perpetuating their heritages at the University. We're aided in this mission by the room committees, which have devoted decades to the creation of Nationality Rooms. They also serve the University community by providing faculty grants, undergraduate and graduate scholarships for summer study abroad, and enhancing library, archival, artifact, and individual resources for research related to those cultures.
These Committees have dedicated nationality/heritage classrooms at the University and remain active Committees through participation in the intercultural exchange programs. As a prime goal of the program is to promote intercultural understanding, Committee membership is open to anyone who has an interest in participating in a Committee. The work of the committees is supported through annual membership dues.
