African Xylophone 1

Xylophone with 10 keys for striking with rubber tipped mallets. Bound with leather cord, the gyil has sound resonating gourds hanging below the slats. The largest gourds are affixed with a tarry substance underneath, while the smaller ones hang together on a string. Three of the gourds on the string underneath have come undone from their tarry adhesion. Comes with two rubber tipped mallets. Possibly from West Africa.
